The role:

We are looking for technical, enthusiastic and flexible people with a keen eye for detail. Based at our Hellaby site, Rotherham, and reporting to a shift leader, your main task will be to contribute to the departmental goals each day including quality control, part collection/material preparation whilst ensuring all departmental responsibilities are to standard.  This can be a physically demanding role. Energy and enthusiasm and a positive outlook are essential.

What you'll be doing:

  • Inspecting finished products and identifying defects in components or goods
  • Operating machinery and equipment to a high standard to achieve production targets
  • Carrying out basic fault-finding to resolve machinery or production inefficiencies
  • Reading, understanding, and following relevant SOPs to ensure health, safety, and quality standards are upheld
  • Supporting process engineers during changeovers
  • Completing daily asset care activities
  • Maintaining and promoting 5S standards across the department
  • Using IT systems to update works orders, track overall equipment efficiency (OEE), and record quality checks

Knowledge, skills and experience:

  • A good mechanical aptitude and a passion for engineering
  • Numeracy skills and an ability to communicate both verbally and in writing in a clear and concise manner, with a good standard of written and spoken English

  • Enthusiastic, self-motivated, and hardworking, with a strong work ethic and excellent interpersonal skills
  • Well-organised and able to cope effectively under pressure, adapting to changing priorities or tasks
  • Flexible, with a positive “can-do” attitude and willingness to learn new skills and other disciplines
  • Confident working independently and collaboratively as part of a team
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify inefficiencies and suggest improvements
  • Observant and vigilant, with a commitment to challenging machine targets, maintaining quality, and following health and safety standards
  • Ability to interpret and work with IT systems to update works orders, track production, and record quality checks

Working hours:

The position will entail working a regular 3 shift pattern, mornings, nights and afternoons.  Monday-Thursday 6.00am-2.00pm or 2.00pm-10.00pm and Friday 6.00am–1.00pm or 1.00pm-8.00pm.  Sunday 11.00pm-6.00am or Monday-Thursday 10pm-6am.

Weekend work may also be required to meet the demands of the business, and you may also be required to help in other areas on site. A flexible, ‘can do’ attitude is therefore paramount.
