GLIDE House is an iconic Grade II listed building in front of Sheffield Arena, originally built as a school in 1874. Consisting of a training academy with space to host various meetings and conferences, plus our very own GLIDE ‘social club’, with a bar and a kitchen, preparing and serving food to employees across all GLIDE company sites.
We’re on the hunt for a Chef to support the kitchen team at our iconic GLIDE House facility.

The role:
We are looking for a chef who loves to cook great food with a can-do attitude. The successful candidate will need to work alongside the head chef and sous chef to manage daily kitchen tasks, aiding with menu preparation, ensuring food quality and freshness, monitoring orders, and stock levels. They will also need to provide meal quality and consistency by following food specification. Reporting to the GLIDE House Manager, the role will involve:
- Overseeing and organising kitchen stock and ingredients
- Ensuring a first-in, first-out food rotation system and verifying all food products are properly dated and organised for quality assurance
- Ensuring cooking stations are stocked, especially before and during prime operation hours
- Managing all temperature and food hygiene regulations and to complete daily paperwork
- Supervising all food preparation and presentation to ensure quality and restaurant standards
- Cooking food in large volumes to a quality standard and have experience in this field
- Verifying that food storage units all meet standards and are consistently well-managed
- Assisting the head chef with menu creation
- Coordinating with the management team on supply chain, budget, kitchen efficiency and staffing
Who you are:
You will need to be a chef with a can-do attitude in all the areas mentioned above, with a passion for ‘all things food’ and a real love of cooking. Taking pride in achieving the highest levels of cleanliness and health and safety and able to work well under pressure and take control when needed, you must also have:
- Formal culinary training and restaurant industry knowledge
- An appetite to learn new skills within the kitchen
- Previous restaurant/catering experience
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Self-motivation, with a positive and enthusiastic attitude
- The ability to work under pressure
- Good timekeeper
- Work as part of a team and as an individual
- Excellent people skills to maintain positive relationships with staff and customers to create good team morale
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- A full clean driving license
- Knowledge of COSHH and HACCAP
Working hours
Monday to Friday, consisting of morning shift (5.30am-2.00pm) and afternoon shift (9.30am-6.00pm), including between 4-5 weekends per year.
